Unneutered males may have marking accidents, and their strong need for human attention and affection isn’t for everyone. Unlike more active breeds, pugs aren’t built for long games of fetch or vigorous exercise; their compact respiratory systems make them prone to getting winded. They also shed year-round, tend to snore, and can be expensive to care for due to their susceptibility to health issues like allergies, eye problems, joint issues, and respiratory conditions.

Sadly, many owners who are unprepared for these challenges find themselves overwhelmed. Sometimes, even loving families who adore their pug face circumstances like health issues, financial struggles, or family changes that force them to make the difficult decision to give up their pet.
