KINGSLEY - 10 YEAR OLD MALE
STATUS: IN FOSTER CARE

FOSTER UPDATE - FEBRUARY 6, 2024
Kingsley had a great holiday season. He also got a new stuffed teddy bear and fancy treats. He enjoyed all of the extra attention over the holidays with extra people in the house and extra walks and treats to go along with it! Kingsley is a master of tricks. He knows how to sit, stay, lie down, turn around and speak on command. If it takes too long for a treat to be delivered, he will show you all of his tricks at once. He has graduated from being walked on a leash to being able to run freely in the yard. He loves to run laps in the yard and bury his face in the snow. He has been enjoying the winter weather immensely. He is a very joyful little man.
His dental surgery went well and he had three teeth extracted.Kingsley is now up to date with his vaccines and is able to go for longer walks and meet new people now. Some interesting facts about the ‘King Man’:
-
He has an extra long tail and when you give him butt scratches he likes to wrap his tail around your wrist.
-
Having him around is like having a living slinky in the house. His front and back ends fight for domination.
-
He is a talker so there is no mystery on what he would like.
-
He likes to be cuddly but struggles with how to show it. He normally ends up just throwing himself across my lap.
-
He really loves to lick any bare skin he has access to. It’s unsettling but he loves it!
-
Since he had his dental his top lip tends to get stuck on his front teeth.
FOSTER UPDATE - DECEMBER 18, 2024
Kingsley was initially very anxious when he arrived and liked to sing the songs of his people as much as possible. He has however found spots in the house where he feels comfortable and has calmed down significantly. He has been going on several short walks throughout the day as his vaccines are being brought up to date. He has had his first vet visit and is overall quite healthy. He is however scheduled for a tooth cleaning in early January. He now just sings the song of his people when there is a genuine reason like dinner time, going outside, or birds in the window. He is a very interesting looking boy and his body is very long and his legs are very short. While he is an older boy, he is very busy and loves to play with small Squishmallow dog toys that we have in the house. He was initially a bit of a challenge to get to eat his meals but as he has become more comfortable in our home, he is also eating better as well. He is also easily coaxed into accepting treats. He has also adjusted very well to sleeping on the big bed at night and once he has had the zoomies on the bed, he settles in for the night for a sleep. He has been having accidents in the house, but we are working through it with him and he is getting better with his housetraining as well. We are also getting better at picking up his signals when he needs to go out also. He is very cuddly and loves to be our shadow and be engaged in everything that we do. He has met the cats and while he can’t quite figure out what they are, he seems to like them.
INTRODUCTION - DECEMBER 1, 2024
Meet Kingsley, a super affectionate 10-year-old neutered pug mix who joined the rescue on November 30th. Kingsley is learning the ropes of foster life and has already started melting hearts. On his first night, he took a little time to settle in and wasn’t shy about airing his "grievances" as he adjusted to his new surroundings. Once he felt the love, though, he cozied up and slept soundly, snuggled against his foster mom’s legs. This morning, Kingsley was eager to head outside for some fresh air but is still a bit reserved at mealtime as he finds his footing. He’ll also be working on improving his housetraining skills with the support of his foster family. Kingsley will be going to the vet for a full check up in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates as he settles into his foster home.
