Happy Tails

Julia has cheerfully toddled off to check out all the great toys at her new furever family's. She will be very loved in her furever home, surrounded by a large extended pug family to play with!

Adopted

Despite being an only dog her whole life she loves her foster siblings and all the toys and running around that happens here. She would be quite happy as an only dog. She could also get along very well with a sibling that is past the puppy stage. Julia is very well adjusted, playful and friendly to dogs and people alike. She does not seem particularly fond of being picked up and prefers to lay across your head behind you on the sofa or come to you herself. Julia has two blankets - one for the sofa and one for the bed and she simply adores them and paws and nuzzles into them to fall asleep. She enjoys the company of her foster siblings but is not above flinging toys around all by herself and then running around like a loon as they look on. She is quite a little character when she thinks you aren't watching.

Add stairs to the list of things she is totally confident about now-she bounces up and down happily following like a shadow. She has lots of nicknames and will happily answer to them. She is very good about coming when called at the park, too.

Her dental work went well. She had one broken tooth extracted . There were others that were already missing. She is now happily eating a mix of grain free kibble and canned food. She has lost a couple of pounds and her energy level is that of a dog much younger.A toothbrushing and chewing routine should be kept up to ensure she keeps the teeth she has left.

She is very playful and active but can be a bit intimidated by rambunctious youngsters. She is trained to use puppy pads when left alone for longer than 4-5 hours. Like most dogs she doesn't like being left for long periods and would require a walker if you were to be gone all day.

Julia is not only a beauty, but very well behaved and loves nothing more than to curl up and cuddle with her blanket and watch a movie with you.

Foster Update, September 29, 2010

Julia's very dignified and has obviously been very well loved. There have been several visitors this weekend and she has been consistently friendly and confident with everyone she meets - dogs, kids and adults, and is extremely polite, gentle and playful with her younger foster siblings. She is not that crazy about the stairs and uses them sparingly but I think when her long nails are trimmed down her confidence on the stairs will improve (Have you ever tried going down wooden steps with stillettos on?). She is very fond of all the toys here at her foster home and loves to stick her head in the toybox and pull out all the stuffed animals. It seems that she has been fed from the table and expects some of your dinner (she isn't obnoxious about it just expectant) so we are working on that. She needs to lose a couple of pounds but nothing monumental. I think the absence of table scraps will help. Julia is house-trained and let's you know when she needs to go out. At night she is happy to go with the flow and will sleep in the big bed or on the sofa with her foster sister. In all she has simply been a delightful and easy going house guest so far.

Introduction, September 26, 2010

Julia is an 8 year old spayed female who has lived with one family all her life. She has a beautiful face, a lovely curly tail and her foster mum says she has "an awesome disposition". She appears to be in good shape and is up-to-date with her shots, but will be going to the vet shortly for her wellness check-up. A full introduction will be provided in a day or two when she has had a chance to settle in with the foster family.
