Mookie's eye has gotten red and squinty, the last two days. I am in touch with his eye doctor, who is working evenings at the north VEC, this weekend. I will be calling him later tonight with an update. It may have gotten infected from the dog bite.
To add to our problems Layla, my kitten is sick. She threw up Thursday and slept all evening. Friday morning she ate and I thought she was okay. When I got home, she wouldn't eat her dinner and slept all evening. She threw up in the wee hours.
This morning she won't eat and just had a few licks of water. No energy in a 10 month old kitten isn't a good sign. Her eye is watering, too.
I just hope she hasn't swallowed something that will cause an obstruction.
We will see if she can get in to my vets, first thing this morning.
I'm a worried mom!

I've got an update on Layla. I was able to get into my vet at 8:30. They kept her and did x-rays. Couldn't find an obstruction, so hopefully there is nothing in that regard. She is getting an injection to stop nausea for about 24 hrs. and that should help her feel like eating and drinking. No fever, either. Hopefully, she will recover in a couple of days.
I will watch Mookie for any changes and check in with the eye doctor later tonight.

Update on Mookie. We ended up going to the emergency clinic. I called his eye guy and told him that Mookie's cornea was looking cloudy now and his eye was still red and weepy. He has a corneal ulcer forming. The Dr. said he has seen this delayed ulcer before. Mookie is on Tobrex drops 6 times a day and Muro twice daily. We will need to check back with the doctor and go for multiple visits, and hope we prevent it from getting worse.
So, if your dog ever hurts an eye and they stain it and say it is fine, be sure to watch for any cloudiness. This could be the start of an ulcer. He said they can kind of form like a blister.

This happened to my little Nero this past summer too. She'd been playing under the lilac bushes and scraped her eye. I didn't notice until she got squinty and her eye turned very red. The vet showed me, with a special light and drops, the blister forming on her eye, I freaked out. She was on drops several times a day for 2 weeks. When I took her in for a follow up we changed the drops to a cream because the drops weren't working as quickly as my vet had hoped. The cream cleared it right up! She learned to run when she saw me coming with the bottle though.

Louise, my guys have been through this before, as well. Those pug eyes are a problem.
