Mookie was attacked on Saturday. His eye was swollen and shut. It's very red and sore. He also had lacerations to his ear and mouth. The emergency vet couldn't see any obvious corneal problems. I am taking him to the eye vet, first thing this morning and hoping the eye is just bruised and that he won't need surgery. Please send some healing thoughts and that he will be able to come home and have a very late breakfast. It's his 9th Gotcha day and he deserves a few extra treats, not surgery!

Good news! No surgery required! It appears that the bite missed the cornea and just bruised the eye ball and scraped his top gums. He must have had his eyelid closed, thankfully. So he is home and had a late breakfast (just in case they needed to do surgery). It's still tender, but will be okay. He is already on medication that will help it. He was quite worried, at the vets and growled at another dog, which isn't like him. Hopefully, that is just because he is still a bit scared of the whole situation. He should settle down.

Yay! Glad he's ok. And hopefully he settles once his eye is not so sore and stops growling at other dogs.

I'm sure Mookie is just feeling a bit skittish and vulnerable and was letting the other dog know not to mess with him.
