We have a little pug man coming in from the Kingston Humane Society and has pneumonia.  I just heard from our transporter (who is, thank God, Vicki who has Leila) that he doens't look great so we are taking him directly to the VEC.

Send some healing vibes for Monkey.......

He's been admitted for the next 24 to 48 hours for care, treatment and observation.  He's a pretty sad looking little Monkey.

Keep those fingers crossed.

We're just getting slaughtered in ill and costly dogs.  Monkey is probably going to run us about 2 grand for 48 hours of treatment and care depending on how ill he is.

And Brian needs to get knees assessed (and probably operated on) and we aren't all that sure how good his hips are.

And Kaia needs nares surgery and maybe a knee done

We're up to 13 dogs in care as of today.  Some haven't been posted yet, but will be soon.

Reilly and Leila are both sending positive pug vibes Monkey's way. They're fans of the crowd at the VEC, and know he's in good hands. The Pug Lady knows it too!

You can tell them that this pug lady is also a big fan of both the VEC, it's staff and especially of Leila and Reilly's mom--who made the last leg of Monkey's transport happen and patiently hung out with me at the VEC.

The VEC has consistently been terrific to us and to our dogs--and the money whine wasn't a criticism of them at all.  That level of care costs money and it's money we happily pay.

I was happy to pick up little Monkey and have the opportunity to catch up with you while we waited at the VEC. The road trip was kind of like paying it forward; if someone else hadn't done it for Leila, she wouldn't be here today. Hopefully Monkey will fully recovery, and go on to find his forever home with someone who loves him as much as I love the Bean.

And for what it's worth - I never thought you were complaining about the cost. With 13 of them in foster care, finances are always a concern. In fact, I think it's a concern for pretty much all of us most of the time!

LOL--that's the truth.  It's not an economy that makes one feel frivolous about money!

He's holding his own.  He's on IV fluids and antibiotics.  they re-X-rayed and he does have pneumonia--they think possibly aspirate pneumonia given the location of the fluid in his lungs.  But he ate a tiny bit on his own.  He was pretty dehydrated which is why the IV fluids.  Given the pneumonia and that he just came from a shelter, they did put him in isolation to be safe.

They'll call me again today and let me know what his prognosis is
