Nellie is a very cute, very "fluffy" girl!!
She'll feel better when some of that weight is off her!
Can't wait to hear more about her!

Tep--poor girl is really grotesquely overweight.  But Hilary will sort her out.

She is surprisingly active and agile.  Yesterday she jumped into the empty bathtub, which is pretty amazing given that her belly is not far off the ground.  The only other pug that ever did that here was Tawn's Twinkie who is a lot taller and more svelte.

Nellie is a real love bug and follows me around like my shadow.  She has settled down considerably in the last 36 hours and is now eating and sleeping well.  Most of the panting nd wheezing has stopped.  She seems to be competely potty trained and, while a little exuberant when excited (this is abating), seems to have pretty good manners, aiming to please.  She has been trying to engage Tina in play and I'm seeing early signs that she might be successful.  There is a lot of sniffing and play posturing going on.

We weighed her yesterday and she is less than I thought at 28.5 lb.  There should be a Dancing with the Stars for dogs.

Thank you so much for the update Hilary!!!  I cried when I first saw Nellie's picture thinking she must be on death's door given her size.  It's very reassuring to hear that she's so active, agile and happy  Smiley  I have no doubt you'll have her diet sorted out and we'll be seeing some amazing changes in Nellie.

I think that her high energy levels and playfulness will be very helpful in getting the weight off, once she's eating appropriate portions of good food I suspect she will shed pounds quickly.

A big day for her today.  Walked to the mailbox this morning as usual but then tonight she did the whole block.  A couple of hours later, she jumped onto the couch!!! where she is now.

Down to 27.8 this morning and up to 3 walks a day.  Tonight she marched around the block at a good pace the whole way, including back up the driveway, stopping only to sniff a dead frog and a couple of bushes.  Unfortunately I have to rub her tummy surreptitiously as Tina is jealous .. again.

Great news.  Weigh-in at the local vet this morning: 27 lb!!!  I checked 3 times - LOL.  We're up to 3 km walking most days, split into walks of 1 km each.  We're on our way to the target weight of 23 lb before spaying.

She's a real cutie - always cheerful except when Tina ticks her off - and is very affectionate.  Once we get this weight thing sorted out, she'll make some family a wonderful companion.
