I got an email from Sandy letting me know that Mitzi has gone to the Bridge.  Here's an excerpt from the email that explains her passing:

"Mitzi has left us and crossed the bridge; life just got too hard for her.  The pred didn't work for her back end and she has had difficulty walking; she has a stroke then something similar to a stroke but instead of a blood clot, it was calcium that shot through her wee body.  In the last few weeks, she couldn't stand at all.  We rushed her to the vet last Thursday because she hadn't peed for over 30 hours.  He didn't find anything but she became incontinent over the weekend.  The final straw was a ruptured anal gland. It was her time."

And here is her happy tail so that you can see her:

She was a grand old gal, but not without her issues.  I'm deeply sorry for Sandy, Debbie and Marie who both fostered and adopted her.  they have had a hard year of loss with their dogs.  They specialize in the elderly and the infirm so often have to say good bye frequently.

A candle is lit on Dunkirk Rd. for Mitzi.

I am so sorry for your loss.  You are so good to take in the ones that need that little bit of extra love and care.  It must be so hard to lose them so quickly, but you are also giving them something very special.  Mitzi was very lucky to have you.

Sandy and Debbie I am so so sorry.  You guys have had such a hard year with losses and then continue to show the courage and compassion your little ones need to the end.  Thank you for being so brave.

Run free Mitzi, we'll light a candle for you in Burlington.

Sandy and Debbie, my condolences to both of you. I will light a candle for Mitzi. You are both special people, taking on the elderly and medically challenged dogs. Thank you for giving these special dogs a loving home. Mitzi will be greeted by many wonderful pets that have gone before her.
