Happy Gotcha Day to my main man - Pippin! I figured it was time for a Pippin post, I know I know… it’s well overdue! I really have no excuse, just been lazy. And this Gotcha Day post is a little early (should be the 27th), but Pippin deserves a Gotcha week of celebration. I can’t believe it has been one year already, where has the time gone? I remember this time last year, eagerly awaiting the time that Blanche would be dropping off Pippin. The first time we met was fantastic; it was love at first sight. He still melts our hearts everyday with his tongue always hanging out of his face, and his cute little underbite. Over the past year Pippin has had many fun experiences with us. He is so good on our fishing boat, and gets out with us very frequently. We have managed a couple successful cottage trips… I say managed because he does feel the need to run like a maniac around the island that the cottages are on and make me chase him (all in good fun, Pip seems to have the time of his life). He also seems to be the life of any party we bring him to. I hosted my sister’s baby shower last weekend, and he found a pacifier on the ground from one of the games. Well, seconds later we saw Pip running around with the pacifier in his mouth just like a baby.. Boy he cracked everyone up! He is the most affectionate dog around, he loves his kisses and cuddle time. He really is a dream come true. Health-wise Pippin has done a 360 since he has entered the rescue. He is no longer on his seizure meds, his eyes have not had any issues, and his coat is so soft and shiny. When we were considering adopting Pippin I was getting myself prepared for a dog that could potentially have lifelong medical issues and concerns. Well, the pug gods have been looking down on him. He has been my least costly pet by far! I think that last time he was at the vet was for his annual shots. Diet-wise we made the big leap to a raw diet this past Saturday! Tanya (Tawn on the forums) sent me the link to a local supplier who makes/prepares a homemade raw diet, which is customized to the individual pet. I think this was the best choice for us, as I was really intimated to make the transition. So far things have been going wonderfully. Pip just loves the raw, and gulps it down like no-one’s business. No diarrhea, no stomach concerns, it has been great! Roxy on the other hand has been a little sensitive, but the past day and a ½ has been going well. Here is the link to the website, if anyone local is interested: http://www.bigcountryraw.ca/ They also deliver to T.O. I’ll try and post some photos to this thread over the next couple days. Bear with me as I try to find my favorites! Krysta

YAY for Pippin! And for you guys. Part of why he's doing so well is your good care of him. but I do remember thinking one night as we were wondering if he'd keep his eyes "Oh Lord. No one will want this one. He's a medical nightmare". Never been so glad to be wrong on both counts.
Give him a big hug from me, Krysta. He was one of my favourite boys.

Happy GD Pippi! I'm so glad that everything has turned out so well for him.
And I would pay good money to see a pic of him with the pacifier in his mouth!!

Happy Gotcha Week to Pip!!
If Roxy is still having trouble with the raw, we have a pretty lengthy email from Big Country Raw with some great tips on how to help with the transition. Madeline was not so keen on it either but we followed some good tips and she had her first proper raw meal today. I can forward you the email if you're interested.

Happy Gotcha Week, Pip!!!
Glad his health is great and congrats on making the switch to raw. Now that his adult vaccination boosters are done, he's good for another 3 years. It's all good for the boy.
