I think that cats are a bit different from dogs in that if they don't eat for a relatively short period of time, they get quite sick very fast.  We once babysat a cat who didn't eat for three or four days; thought nothing of it until we noticed she was yellow; kidney failure.
Yeah--cats are remarkably complicated animals medically.  And things can go bad quickly with them.

Yes, canned is fine.  In fact, in terms of bio availability it's better than kibble.  I think Mark's boys eat mostly canned or used to.

Yep, Cooper is still eating all canned stuff and it has done wonders for him.  Bugsy is back on the kibble as he slowly lost interest in the canned stuff but went nutso for the kibble so they each have their own diet.  I also found out that the canned stuff we've been feeding them (Wellness - Chicken and Sweet Potato and Venison and Sweet Potato) are NOT grain free -- there are small amounts of barley in both of them.  That probably explains why Bugsy was losing interest as he has grain allergies and was probably starting to get itchy.

Not all canned food is created equal though, so if you do proceed on a canned diet do some research.  It worked wonders for Cooper who was having some renal issues (most likely because of the increased bio-availability) but it might not be for every pug.

Oops - I didn't realize there was another picky pug thread here.  This is exactly my problem as well - Lady becoming increasingly picky with age.  I really want her to suck it up and eat a good quality kibble as opposed to giving in and giving her canned food.  I am going to slowly switch back to Fromm and see what happens!
