Sasha went to her vet yesterday for a health check and a 3 yr. rabies vaccination. Her weight has dropped from 19 lbs. to 15.6 lbs in just under a year. Actually though, her weight decrease has been most dramatic over the period that she has begun eating raw, which is over 3 months now. Winnie has also lost a couple of pounds. They are fed Nature's Variety Instinct medallions 5 each per day (chicken, lamb, beef, bison) divided between breakfast/dinner and we have cut back on treats except for fruit, vegetables and yogurt. They still indulge in the occasional small bit of ice cream which they both go crazy for. The raw feeding along with more attention to portion control and treats seems to have made a big difference for both of our Pug Girls. And it was the education done on this forum around weight control, as well as feeding raw, that supported this healthy change. Thanks once again to the Pugalug forums and all of the contributors.

Sasha dropped 18% of her starting weight  Shocked  What an accomplishment!  You must be so proud  Grin

Have you noticed any change in her behaviour as a result?  When our Georgie lost his weight he was like a pup again wanting to play because he felt so much better and he tolerated heat better as well.

Thanks for your supportive wishes. Winnie has always been like a puppy in her playfulness and ability to run and zip about. Miss Sasha has a collapsing trachea and a rear leg that is a bit of a problem so she doesn't run around too much. The one thing I have noticed is that Sasha is more playful with me in the last while. She licks me which is something she hadn't done before and in playing tries to nip me (she has few teeth). So I think that is an indication that she has more energy.
