My groomer noticed two lumps on Theo's back legs and I had noticed a couple of lumps in his armpit area.  So when I took him for his blood work today, I asked my vet to take a look.  Unfortunately, the lumps are his lymph nodes--so not good.  The weird thing is that his sub-mandibular nodes are fine--which is odd.

So she did a fine needle aspiration and we'll see what the results tell us.  The range of options is the manageable (an immune system issue) to the horrible (Lymphoma).

So if you can, spare a few thoughts for my little old man.  We love him dearly even if he is an utter ratbag at the vet.  And today's poking and prodding didn't increase his regard for her at all!

Wishing you good news Theo from the country bumpkins out here in the East.  You can be a 'ratbag' at the Vet's all you want, especially at your age.  Keep us posted Blanche.

I don't know why, but I'm thoroughly freaked out.  I've been weeping off and on since leaving the vets.  I'm not usually like this.  Yes, I always assume the worst, but I'm rarely blown away by it.

Not sure if I've just had too many dogs go on me in the last couple of years or what or if my tolerance for death is at an all time low, but I'm a bit of a mess.

You are very entitled to feel that way Blanche.  Every Vet trip is worrisome and its only out of love for Theo you are feeling this way.  I know I have left many a Vet visit in tears, you are not alone and we are all sending our best and strongest your way.

Aw Blanche.....after everything you've been through in the recent past with your dogs, your reaction is to be expected.  I'm sorry that you are having this worry.  We've got Theo in our thoughts for the best possible news.

Oh Blanche, sending the very best thoughts to you and Theo.

I think that the losses certainly do add up, especially with so many close together.

Sometimes, when another one gets sick, I feel all the other ones over again.
Also, I think that Theo is your heart dog.

It is never easy waiting.  I will hope for the best.

Aw, Noooo!  Oh Theo, sweet, darling boy.  I am crossing every appendage I can for you darlin'.

And Blanche, you've been through a lot the last few years.  You aren't made of stone, a freak out it totally understandable and justified so go easy on yourself.  I'm sending you lots of psychic hugs.  Please let me know if I can do anything to help - one Shih Tzu lover to another.

Did the vet give any indication of how long you'll have to wait for results, Blanche?

Lots of prayers for the adorable Theo, and hugs to you, Blanche.  My heart goes out to you, Blanche.  We love these little creatures so much, it's hard to think of them having to go through anything.  I'll be praying for the very best results for Theo.

It usually takes a couple of days for histo reports--so I'm assuming tuesday or wednesday.

And I took Luke for a walk and got a grip on myself.  Sometimes I spend too much time in my own head......where it's dark and spooky.......
