Blanche thanks for the information and website for Carnivora. Winnie and Sasha have been on raw for over two weeks now. They are being fed Nature's Variety Instinct just now because that was all I could get and I went to Kingston to find that initially. Our Belleville Pet valu is expanding and is beginning to carry raw frozen and is looking for product suggestions. They have already committed to carrying Nature's Variety but I'm also going to suggest Carnivora and send him the website. If there are any of you around this area who are interested in making suggestions as well, let me know and I'll send the local Pet Valu owner's email address to you. Both Winnie and Sasha are crazy about their new raw diet!

I LOVE CARNIVORA!!  I feed both Theo and Tank Carnivora with a few meals of Tollden Farms--but 75 yo 80% of their meals are carnivora.  With both of them having systemic yeast issues, not having food with fruits or vegs makes a huge difference to them both.

Here's the website, Jemma if you want to read up on whole carcass raw.

Thanks, Blanche!  I admit, reading about it and knowing it's a whole animal is kinda creepy.  However, if it's good for the Pug, so be it!  The cost of it seems better than Nature's Variety.  If I recall correctly, the Carnivora is 15 bucks for 8 patties.  Depending on the flavour of NV, it can run between 16-20 for approx 48 medallions.  I probably overfeed Amir still.  He gets 3-4 of the 1oz medallions per day.  As he's 25 pounds, I'm approximating 1/2 a patty of the Carnivora per day.  Now to decide what flavour to start with.

The other raw that I really like is Tollden Farms.  So fight to get that one in as well.

For me, less is more as my guys have so many allergy issues.  No eggs, no dairy, no fruits, limited vegs, etc.

I think Spring Meadow also does a whole carcass raw.  Whole carcass is considered the Gold Standard of raw feeding.

I do supplement with Holistic Blend Seagreens Powder and a non-dairy/lactose free acidophilus and herring oil.

I'll have to check them out.  I also know I should throw glucosamine and such into the mix.

And, of course, I make the mistake of mentioning raw to a friend who works at the Vet College.  I swear, the way some go on, it sounds like I'm going to kill my dog if I feed him raw.

Get used to it.  I hear it ALL THE TIME.  Not from my vet who knows better--she still isn't a fan of raw feeding, but she admits that she can't argue with my results.

The best glucosamine supplement in my experience is Sasha's Blend.  Here's the link:

The other one that I've used in the past but don't now (due to allergy boys issues) is Recovery SA:

And there's a new one out in Canada (been in the US for a while, I think) called Zeel:

The other raw food I've just found (thanks to Niki of Peachy Keen Pets) is Arusha.  Made out west and they have their own abattoir--which I like.  And a bunch of unique proteins.  The Dog House here in Toronto carries it.

Am also looking into Club Canine:
