We heard from Mia's family today. Their sweet puppymill survivor has gone to the bridge. Here is her story http://pugalug.com/mia.html She was one of the group from Prairie Pugs in Kansas and came up with Minnie, who just passed recently. Our hearts go out to the family and their foster family, Sandy and Debbie. The family is sharing their e-mail: "It is with a heavy heart that Craig & I send you this email. Today Mia was sent to the Rainbow Bridge. We adopted Mia in June of 2007 & she has been a joy to our family. In December 2007 Mia almost lost her life due to diabetic complications. If it wasn’t for the exceptional care we received at the Limestone City Animal Hospital (Kingston), Dr Mark de Wolde & his staff Mia would not have made it. More than three years later her quality of life had greatly diminished, it was time to send her on her way instead of prolonging her suffering. Mia will be reunited with her Pug sister Puglet who went to the rainbow bridge in October." Craig, Lisa & Amelia

I'm so sorry for your loss. A candle is lit in Ottawa for Mia.
I know the vet you mention (Mark deWolde). He was my cat Ollie's vet and is an exceptional vet and human being. I'm quite sure that the care Mia received was the very best.

I am so very sorry. Having met you, I know how well she was loved and how different and better the second part of her life was. Thank you for loving her and taking such good care of her. We suffer so they don't have to.

Craig and Lisa (and Amelia, too) We are very sad to hear about Mia's passing. We were just talking about you and Mia the other day; we remember her so fondly. You were the best forever family she could have had and we thank you for giving her so much love and joy. Also, thank you for continuing to give her strength and dignity to the end and making such a difficult decision at the right time.

Craig, Lisa and Amelia it was so nice to meet you early in the year when I did the home visit for Under my Wing Rescue. I was so happy to meet Mia too and knew that she was in the best home ever! I know you will all miss her terribly. Hugs to all of you.
