I met with one of Mitzi's foster moms today to hand over some microchips (and let her visit with Tank). Mitzi is doing very well, but did have a pretty major depressive episode on her surrender. We dont' see this often, but it does happen on occasion.
However, she has perked up considerably, is out and about in the house. Doing well with her other four legged companions and at this point, appears to be very healthy for an old gal. She is ensconced in the big bed with one of her foster moms at night and is generally adapting very well.
Accident free so far, as well.

It must be sad for her, hope she is picking up and realizes there are lots of people that love her and lots of good food to eat. Pugs really are such special dogs, they tend to really bond to their human, that's what makes them so unique.

Oh she is so beautiful. What a shame that she is in this situation at this point in her life. We're sending lots of love her way.

We would just like to give you a quick update on Mitzi as she was at the vet on the weekend. She has herniated disks in her back which are the cause of her weak back end. She has started steroids and we will see if there is any improvement. She may have the onset of glaucoma. We are going to monitor the pressure in her eye and see if there is any change. The rest was very good news; a relatively strong heart with a small murmur (but what senior pug doesn't have a heart murmur); good teeth (thanks to her relinquishing family who looked after this for Mitzi); perfect blood work and her lumps and bumps are fatty - nothing to worry about. She will need monitoring for a while but we will keep you updated.
She has settled very well now and her wonderful personality is shining through. She loves to play chase - you can chase her or she will chase you, she doesn't care. She adores being outside in the yard and isn't a wienie about the weather. She is accident free. She is a bit picky about her treats but can spit what she doesn't like pretty far!!
All in all, Mitzi is absolutely adorable; a wonderful senior girl.

She sounds like such a great girl. Hope the steroids do wonders for her and she gets better. Know someone who's dog had a similar issue and steroids together with crating, did the trick.
