We just brought Pugalug's newest foster pug, Tina, home this evening.  Tina is 6 years old and has to wear a cone because of extreme allergies.  But she's a hoot!

Yes, the nails are being dremmeled tomorrow!  She now found one of the old fusty marrow bones and is carrying it around chuntering to it.  When it falls on the tile by the wood stove, it scares her and she barks.  She's a hoot!  My two are passed out but she's still going.

I can commisserate on:

She is still going and the 2 are passed out Wink

Abi is a going concern whilst the boys are zoned out! In fact,
Bubba has taken to retiring in the bedroom on the mats there for
some R&R from the "going concern"  LOL!

Yes, I have to say I have some "kitchen envy" myself.

As to her allergies--we're not really sure what's going on with her, Maureen.  she doesn't actually look like an allergy dog--beautiful fur, no infection or obvious issues with nose folds or feet--all indicators of a food allergy.  BUT as soon as Hilary takes off the cone, she obsessively scratches her ears--almost without stop.  So Hilary has a mystery on her hands.
When we got the Dog Information Sheet on this dog, I told Hilary it has her name written all over it.  I'm curious to see what we find out.

She slept clutched in my arms without the cone so she couldn't get up to scratch.  She managed to do so several times, however, so we both might need a nap this afternoon.  She's got the cone back on full-time but we'll try it off again in Big Bed.  She needs some potty-training and we're starting to work on that.  She is a cutie-patootie, very loving and very playful.  The boys are not sure what to make of this strange blue-headed bone-stealer.

I'm not convinced it's allergies.  I'm waiting to get the pre-intake vet records and then I will take her off to the vet to get things checked out.

Could OCD present itself like this?

It's possible, but I would think that if OCD played a part in it, the OCD behaviour wouldn't stop with the cone, but would either continue by scratching at the cone area or would transfer to a new arena of behaviour.

Having said that, some of this scratching could be behavioural.
