hi. Angela,

don't give up yet! Sounds like an allergic reaction
to something in the ingredients!

Bubs, Shy and Honey threw up! quite a few times
b4 I realized they could not eat beef!

Never experienced the all over upchuck like that as
Pugsley was able to eat anything and what he didn't
like would spit it out!

Might be a case of starting with just a couple ingredients;
if they work and are kept down add another until you have
what Rocky will tolerate!

if the premixes keep making him upchuck you could
Try human. Grade grd chicken or turkey 1/4 cup with
Shredded veggie mix of about 1/4 cup (I get Costco veggie medley:
gr & yellow  beans, carrots)
the grd chicken tray will give you approx. 12 meals. When I run
out of my homemade chick. I buy a tray and split it in 3rds length x
4ths width.

This also allows you to know what is in the mix and since it is only
3 vegggies. and one meat elimination isn't to hard.

worth a try! you can freeze the chicken individually and the veggies
I use my food processor to shred down. Small amt to last a day or 2
in the fridge.

Thanks Lori.
I found a place here in K-town that sells another brand.  I'll give that a try.
I'm not ready to give up  yet.  But I dont want to do anything to harm him either.......
Although he really seems to enjoy eating the food he pukes up so it isn't bothering him much at this point......gross!!

Hahaha! yep they will love it till it comes
back at them Smiley

Good luck with the new stuff!
the other thing might be that he is eating
it too fast?!?
a cubed veggie that makes him have to
actually chew may slow him down so
that his tummy has time to assimilate
the food?!!

just a thought! cubed carrots, zucchini, or whole peas
may help. Even chick peas (rinsed if canned) or any pre
cooked bean would help with gobbling!

I agree.  I'd give another brand a try.  I really do find that NV has too many things in it and it's very hard to figure out what is upsetting the apple cart.

The other thing you could look at, Angela, is the dehydrated raw.  Honest Kitchen or Ziwipeak both make good ones.  Although I've not used them, others have (mostly in the US) with good success.  I find that the Honest Kitchen also has a lot of ingredients, but lots of pug people swear by it.

As everyone probably knows by now, I'm a HUGE raw proponent.  But my Mei-Ling would upchuck on commercial raw (can't remember the name of the brand) and would projectile vomit beef.  She was fine with everything else.

Raw doesn't have to be too complicated.  For evening meals around here, they get plain meat or poultry or fish, nothing added.  If you want to try your dog on raw, buy whatever is on sale at the grocery store (preferably not ground meat - too much surface area) and feed them that for a few meals.  A chicken breast cut up would be a good place to start.  Or a cheap cut of beef when it's on sale.  Or the meat of a turkey leg before you put it in the oven. Or a pork chop with the fat removed.  Then when you are more comfortable that they're not going to die, you can add in something like the Breakfast Slop which has more ingredients.  You start with one protein and add another and another as long as they don't exhibit signs of intolerance for any of them.  My dogs are on rotation with a different type of meat/poultry/fish every night (well, some nights there are leftovers).

This sounds doable to me. And probably less expensive than the commercial products I've seen.  I found another variety last night with no eggs, grains or chicken that will run me about $20 per week.  The organic one they had was $43 per week which is beyond what I'm ready to pay.
What about veggies and fruit?  I've read posts from others here who add all kinds of things to the raw diet.

That stuff's in the Breakfast Slop, made in bulk about once a month and frozen in individual portions.  I thought the Breakfast Slop recipe was a "sticky" topic but I didn't see it there so here is the link: http://pugalug.com/forums/index.php/topic,8491.0.html

Would you be able to feed a breakfast slop even with kibble eaters?  Geeg & Jem love fruit and veggies...although i'd assume i cut out the meaty bits.  Could it be like a treat?  Or does the meat have to be there to be fully healthy?
