If anyone has any spare thoughts or prayers they could send out, I know a girl who could really use them. My cousin Helen lives in England and her spaniel (and first furbaby) Rosie is in dire straits. For reasons unknown at this point Rosie's immune system is attacking her and destroying all her red blood cells. She has had two blood transfusions already but her odds of making it through the next week are only 50-50. She is such a sweet cuddly, loving girl, and the apple of Helen's eye. She and her husband Ian are devastated and are spending every waking moment with her in the hospital. If you could spare some healing thoughts her way I know that they would be appreciated.
This is a picture of her with her Auntie Catherine, one of my favourites.

I hope the news for Rosie and her mom gets better very soon, that the vets are able to figure out what has happened in time to make a difference for poor Rosie.

Many, many prayers will be said for sweet Rosie. Hopefully they can find what is wrong, and that the dear girl will be feeling better very soon.

Lots of good thoughts out to Rosie and her mom. Sounds like what Maisie has--IMHA and/or thrombocytopenia.

Anna: Just as a point of information, the two breeds most prone to IMHA are American Cocker Spaniels and English Springer Spaniels.
This certainly sounds like IMHA to me. Generally, if the dog responds to medication and treatment in the first week, the prognosis is relatively okay. Although IMHA never gets cured, some dogs do live pretty long and decent lives on medication.
She should never be exposed to any toxins--no vaccines again and likely no flea/tick or HW meds. Vaccines and toxin exposure can actually cause IMHA/Thrombocytopenia.

The latest update is good! Helen brought her in some tasty snacks to the hospital (bacon and sausage, yes, I know, I've talked to her about this) and Rosie scarfed them down so I think she must be feeling a bit better. Thanks for all the good wishes everyone!
