I got this email from Bissell this afternoon.

Dear Blanche,

During the BISSELL MVP Photo Contest, we aim to create a fun and fair experience for all contest participants. We have measures in place to detect votes that violate our contest rules, and have unfortunately discovered a number of invalid votes for some of the voting period 1 and 2 winners.

We removed the invalid votes for the voting period 1 and 2 winners and as a result, your dog, Hazel is now the 4th place winner for Voting Period 2.

You have won a $25 VISA gift card! Please confirm that you would like to have it shipped to this address:

77 ******* Rd

Toronto, ON

Hazel will also advance to the semi-finals for our new pet model selection, which will take place in April.

For more information, please refer to the contest rules, specifically section 6A. We apologize that your winning pet was not announced sooner and have implemented more stringent security measures to ensure we do not announce winners before the validation process is complete in future weeks.

Sincerely,

The BISSELL MVP Team

Yay Hazel!  I knew such a lovely lady would have to have made the semi-finals!

And I must say, good for Bissell for owning up to the screw-up and hopefully their new security will improve things.  I wonder who the cheaters were.  The blind cat rescue?  Or that dog with over 2000 votes?

Well, it looks like the 2100 vote dog is removed from the winners list.

Yeah, the righteous have prevailed. Makes one feel good all over to know that playing by the rules does count.

Congrats Hazel. I'll let everyone know in the next newsletter and update them on Ladybugs link and vote start time.

And it looks like they have removed the vote count so you do not know the total votes to date.

This is good news that with people, bringing the
problem to Bissells attention; has brought a good
outcome to an unfair situation!

I'm impressed that Bissell took the concerns seriously and responded.  While it's always nice for my Crazel to place, it's nicer to know that a company that could have blown this off as sour grapes took the concerns to heart.

Nice to see in a day where corporate good citizenship can be lacking.
