Hugh Radley asked me to share this with the group
It is with great sadness and regret that I have to tell you that we
had to have Minnie put to sleep at 10 am this morning.
Her troubles started last evening at about 7.15 when she suddenly fell
over on to her back whilst eating her supper. Heidi did exactly the
same thing. I was on my way home from work at the time when Kathleen
called me to tell me what was happening, she thought Minnie was
choking on a piece of food. Cutting a long story short it turned out
that Minnie was having a seizure...we realized this when another one
occurred about three hours later and lasted for about a minute. After
that she had another one about a half hour later. We rushed her to the
Emergency vet in Brampton hoping he could stop the seizures until we
could get her to our regular vet this morning. She had one more at
about 5.30am and was about to have another one at about 7 am but they
averted this one with drugs.
I picked her up at 7.30 and rushed her over to our vet. She was not in
good shape by this time. I asked the vet to do blood work to try and
identify the problem. Knowing better than me and knowing from
Minnie's medical records that she was a cancer survivor I think she
suspected that the seizures could caused by a tumor so she x-ray'd
Minnie before doing blood work...turned out that one of her lungs was
full of tumors and it was likely that it had gone to the brain. This
came as a great shock because Minnie did'nt seem to be having problems
breathing.
At 10 am I held my Minnie in my arms and kissed her goodbye
as she went to sleep forever. She was very much loved and gave us
great joy for approx three years she was in our lives.
