Hello everyone!
I'm a new member too and live in the Port Perry area. I've been looking at your web site for quite a while now and finally was able to join the forum - for some reason the forum registration did not like my email address and said it was spam.. lol! I have two Pugs (Otis and Nero) that we love to death. We got them breeders before we were aware of your wonderful organization. We love our Pugs so much and am so glad that we have them, but would only adopt from a rescue from now on. I would also like to foster in the near future but my husband is afraid that I will adopt them all :-) We just recently lost our wonderful 14 year old dog - a sheltie.
Thank you that all you are doing for these Pugs.

Welcome Louise! And let me just say as a long time rescuer, I don't think there is anything wrong with getting your dog from a breeder PROVIDED that it is an ethical, reputable breeder who is breeding with the health and temperament of the dog FIRST and the conformation angle is a bonus. There ARE some great pug breeders out there, but there are also some not so great ones and registration with the CKC doesn't guarantee ethical breeding. I will likely get my next dog from a CKC show breeder (probably won't be a pug, however)--but it will be someone I know/have researched and has a track record of ethical and reputable breeding. It's the person breeding for profit or "for fun" without regard to the health or temperament of the dogs they are breeding that I worry about.
