Our newest pug in rescue is Maisie and she needs our help! She's currently very very ill so please let's send her well wishes and I'm sure donations wouldn't be out of order either! (She should be listed on the Canada Helps page very soon, but if you want to make a donation before then you can do it to the general vet fund and just note that it's a donation for Maisie). http://pugalug.com/maisie.html

Poor little muffin. I'm going to try and get down to see her on the weekend depending on how she's doing. She will remain with the VEC for the weekend and probably part of next week until we have a sense of whether or not she's responding to the medication.
This is a bit of a juggling act right now to find what works best for her. The reality is that she might be one of the dogs that doesn't respond to anything. But time will tell.
I'm sure Vicki is keeping an eye on her for me until I can get there to visit.

Just spoke to Maisie's vet at the VEC. She is still holding her own. Is up and walking around, her hematocrit has improved as have her platelets. They still are way off of normal, but much better than they were. She's on prednisone, azathioprine and a gastric med for her stomach. they will do a CBC tomorrow and let's all hope that her platelet count is still improved. It will take a couple of days for the meds to reach therapeutic levels, but for now, she's stable.
I'm going to go down and visit her tomorrow.

I went to see her today and she was pretty subdued--but had just come back from a short walk which tired her out. I got lots of kisses however. Here's a picture of her:
