We were at the dog park today and we met a friend who we have run into at Pugalugs here in St.Catharines and on the path.  I am so saddened to learn Diesel was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with cancer I believe it is called mastocytoma Stage 3.  They were told that he may have a year left and 1 1/2 if he undergoes Chemotherapy at a cost of $8000.  The first spot found was on his chest and later located another in his mouth.  He is on steroids now and his chest tumour has reduced in size.  He is such a happy little guy, runt of the litter with neurological issues leaving his tongue stick out, then he was involved in a car accident and embedded with glass followed by a long stay at the vets.  Due to his previous health issues he is not a candidate for surgery, they feel he would not survive.   I pray for a miracle for them, I hope at the very least Diesel can enjoy the rest of his time here on Earth without pain and suffering cry

That is very sad news and I hope Diesel will find relief from his pain.

Well, depending, it might not be a death sentence.  MCT--mast cell tumours are common in pugs and most can be removed surgically with no problem.  He may have a more advanced case or more invasive form.  I know a little black girl pug in Nevada that has mastocytosis and is managed well with meds and a low stress life.

Pam--the link above gives some info on it and I posted a long article in the Pug Health section on MCTs

What a shame that he isn't a candidate for surgery--sorry--I didn't read your post carefully enough.  Hopefully, the meds can manage him for a quality of time.

Hoping Diesel and his family are blessed with the miracle that you mentioned. For now, sending healing thoughts and energy to a precious little guy who has transcended other difficult times.
