The absolute last dog that I ever worry about eyes with is my pom.  And it seems she has developed what my vet thinks is a melting ulcer.  So she is on Baytril and getting Tobrex drops every hour until I can get her to the ophthalmologists tomorrow.

We'll find out what is really going on, but given her age, if they suggest a graft, I'm likely going to suggest enucleation.  I'm not sure it makes much sense to graft her at her age, especially given her cataracts.

So think some good ocular thoughts for my Lola.

Oh no that is awful. Poor Lola and you - what a horrible thing. Did she have a scratch? I will be thinking good thoughts for her.

Yeesh.  I think it's a canine conspiracy to bring my gray hairs in sorrow to the grave.  Of course, I'll have to be buried in Potter's Field as all my money will have been spent on dog eyes.......

She's deeply unhappy with the hourly drops and has had several impressive attempts at nailing me.  Let's hope my reflexes hold up as I get more tired.

Oh crap!  As an alternative to Potter's Field, you may want to get burried in a park with a tree planted on top to 'mark' you.  Then future generations of dogs can 'mark' you too Grin

Best wishes and our best to Lola.  Small but mighty...although with one eye she'd look very piratical...or would that be giving away too much in a glance?  Hope she comes thorugh well, Blanche.

All the best from our house.

Are you letting your hair go grey or considering dye?  I've been on the fence... Wink

Well, the ulcer is melting, huge, deep and wide so we're taking the eye out.  The graft would cover her entire cornea and not provide any extra sight so bye bye eye.

So now I have four dogs (not counting Pippin) with 4 eyes between them.

And Lizz--no, I'm keeping my grey.  And naming each one after one of my animals....Bob will get several named after him.  As will Hazel.  Lola I blame for my wrinkles.

I consider all my grey to be a badges of honour.

And may I suggest an eyepatch in black, with a pink crystal skull and crossbones?  Warm up the Bedazzler!

When we dealt with Beau's eye, I considered it highly ironic that the one dog who could see was the one who managed to get poked in the eye. Roll Eyes

But also, good thoughts for speedy recoveries and hugs to you all.  Although I suspect Lola's not a hugger.
