As most of us probably go directly to the Forum after reaching the Pugalug website, you may have missed a new article our Blanche has posted on the Home Page.

Informative, clearly well written, oh so true, and of course peppered with that signature Blanche humour. Cheesy

Take a look, you'll be impressed.

ah yes... the flour eating... happened at my house - there was home-made pug glue for about a four foot sq area.... monsters - that was Sophie, Bugzy and Winnie, they actually dragged a new bag of flour out of a cupboard they opened themselves. Bugzy can even open the full height sliding doors on my pantry.

As the old saying goes they may be crazy but not stupid..

Very good article Blanche! You'd think you were spying on the three pugs living here, you have them down frighteningly well

Marvelous article, Blanche!  I think you should write a full book about Pugs!

I love that story.

Is that because you can relate?

I laughed so hard when I read it the first time on the forum. Maude does some pretty wacky things but she is the kind of dog that will sit behind a partially closed door unaware she could push it open. I doubt she would be ingenious enough to get into cupboards to get a bag a flour.

Well, I DID get that story from you, Kathy.  It's one of my favourites.  I don't have any stories like that with my pugs as they are both angels, of course, and incredibly well behaved.  Yes indeed.

Glad you all liked the article.  I'd never write a book about Pugs.  People would be too discouraged or I'd end up in a secure facility.  While I love the breed, I increasingly feel that they aren't the easiest dogs to live with and that people don't put much thought into getting them--like most dog purchases, I think.  Some folks do research, but so many folks don't it is discouraging.

I suspected there could not have been two episodes of flour raids & I was actually owning up to that one..... I had not realized it was so amusing to everyone - I should have taken pictures but I was too busy trying not to murder them as I washed paste off them and the floor but it was 5 lbs of flour they spread around - , an unopened  2.5 kg bag. They ate very little, but spread a lot, wore a lot and made lots of paste....

I meant some of the other descriptions as well I have experienced every single one between my lot and the 9 fosters... mind you I seem to recall a certain pug who resided in your house that stole a frozen turkey.... that was one of my favourites! I noticed frozen turkey theft was not listed....  lol

My Maudie was the frozen turkey thief.  Bob specialized in strip loin steaks.

I think anyone who's had more than one pug for more than a week has seen most of the behaviours I've described.  The article is based on the most commonly asked questions I get or the most common reasons people surrender their dogs.

Kelly likes to say that Pugs are "unique" whenever anyone asks what they are like.......I wonder if a "normal" pug is a really expensive option you can buy....LOL

I never want to be without a pug in the house again though!!
