Buddy came into rescue in August of 2008 at age 3.5.  He was blind and was surrendered for aggression.  His foster mother Alison worked with him and we felt that his aggression issues were likely related to his very early blindness and possibly inadequate handling of his fears.  He improved a bit, but blew out of his one and only adoptive home in 72 hours due to aggression.  His foster mom adopted him.  She called in an aggression/behavioural specialist and worked like a demon with Buddy.  He was put on anti-seizure meds as some of his behaviour seemed to be focal seizures.  Over the next year, several meds were tried, but Buddy continued to have aggressive outbursts and though the frequency did not increase, the violence of the episodes got much worse.  His attacks were becoming a threat to Alison, her mother and the other dogs--not to mention any visitor to the house.
His mom and I talked and decided, upon the vet's recommendation, to let Buddy go to the Bridge.  Sadly, this little man just wasn't "wired correctly" and our options were limited.  We could either let him go to the Bridge, drug him into passivity or keep him crated and isolated.  Alison opted, and I agreed, to let him go.
Run free, little man.  Now you can see and you don't have to be ruled by a brain that just can't interpret world.

A candle will be lit for Buddy - run free little guy.

My sympathies to Alison and the resuce team at Pugalug, this must have been an extremely difficult and upsetting decision. Try and take some comfort knowing you did all that could for this poor soul.

Peace to you, Buddy.

Thank you Allison for taking such good care of Buddy.  Your patience and kindness would have meant the world to him.  It also sounds like everything you did for him was in his best interest and you had to make several difficult decisions - much appreciated.

Buddy was a real special guy.
we had the honour of dog sitting him.
yes he had issues, but I will always remember how he loved to cuddle.

Run free Buddy.
