I got Hugo's last shots done today, and within an hour his whole face was double the size. I rushed him back to the vet and he gave him a shot and pills (didn't charge me either)....and said to let him rest and the swelling will go down.

He's back home now and fast asleep. Poor boy...every time I looked at his face I started crying.

That was the scariest thing ever. The vet made a note to give him another shot to counter-act any other shots he needs.

I need a glass of wine.  Sad

Ashlee and swollen face hugo.

I feel for you both. Hugo should be close to normal by morning. Harley had the same thing happen from rabies vaccine.

with such a strong reaction you may want to talk to your vet about opting out of any further rabies vaccine for him.  Your vet can give you an exemption note so that you aren't in violation of the law.

I hope little puffy-face feels better, and you too!

I feel like I'm not going to sleep tonight because I'm going to be up checking his face every couple hours :S

Oh Ashlee, your poor baby Hugo  cry  I hope he's feeling a million times better this morning.  Thanks for sharing the photo, it's one of those things you have to see to really get it.  The swelling really makes him look so sad.

His face is doing well today....BUT he's soooo wound up tonight....like, peeing everywhere (he's been really thirsty), running everywhere, chewing on everything he can get his paws on....

Could this be another reaction to the vaccine? I'm exhausted from chasing him everywhere.

Help.

Exhausted Ashlee and Excited Hugo
