After worsening severely during the night my parents decided to put an end to Cleo's suffering, she has gone to the Bridge today at noon.
I've posted about my parents cat Cleo before. My parents rescued her from neglectful neighbours who hadn't even given her a name. When they adopted her she was a sweet 7 year old, talkative tuxedo cat, desperate for love. My Dad named her Cleo after jazz singer Cleo Lane. She was a sweet lady who always had a mew and a nuzzle for visitors. Over the last couple of years Cleo developed a heart murmur and thyroid issues which were dealt with but then over this long weekend Cleo went into renal failure and had some paralysis develop in her hind end. The trauma and stress involved in treatment was more than my parents were willing to put Cleo through with her timid nature and age (15) and so they decided to let her go. She had 8 good years with my parents and I know she will be greatly missed, especially by her devoted slave (my Dad).
Rest easy now sweet lady. Your life may have started out lonely and sad but you found your real home eventually. Know you were, and always will be, loved.
A candle is lit for you.

My deepest sympathies to you and your mom and dad Anna. Special thoughts for your Dad as I know he was especially bonded with Cleo and strength to you and your mom to help you deal with your own grief and your Dad's too. Rest easy Cleo

I am so sorry. Your parents gave Cleo a wonderful life, and now she is free to chase mice, and maybe a pug or two.
