One week from tomorrow (June 4th) will be Liberty-Paige's second GOTCHA DAY....what a celebration this will be..something that includes lots of folks...when she arrived she was so overweight she could barely walk...months/years on a cage...her teeth worn down to the gums from trying to chew her way to freedom...she was terrified of the dark and we left every light on in the house...the first four months I spent every night holding her..nighttime caused such great anxiety....and MEN ugh she would gasp, shake and twice she collapsed, I thought she would have a heart attack...Months of training..teaching her she was finally safe...we dealt with the arthritis from being a senior...I tought her voice commands and how to work off lead..you could not place a collar or lead oner and she NEEDED walks...so moving forward...Paige is 30 pounds lighter....perfectly obedience trained....we only leave 1 light on at night..she no longer panics in the evening and best of all she no longer fears men....when we had the yard sale Paige was front and centre greeting folks and teaching them an old dog can learn new tricks....I was quite literally in tears watching Paige work the crowd and truly becoming the dog she was meant to be...Paige now plays with Barnaby...takes long walks...loves the car and lives a life without the stressors..when she would have her anxious moments and seem to flashback to fearful times I taught her to look me in the eye and I would would tell her she was safe and home and loved..it worked...I think a party for Paige is well deserved..she has worked so hard... :D
