Today was a P.D Day for school but I still had to work in the morning. As soon as I get up in the morning Pinky gets up and she goes out. Melvin stays in bed with Aiden sleeping and usually when I wake Aiden to get ready for school Melvin gets up. Well because I didn’t wake Aiden, Melvin didn’t get up either, so I didn’t feed the dogs because if I put it down Pinky will eat it all. I left for work and Pinky must have opened the floor to ceiling cupboard (she does it a lot) and somehow the Terry’s Dark chocolate Orange that my mom got last night must have fallen. Pinky began throwing up chocolate and my mom was calling me on my phone (the one time I left it in my jacket!) When I got home Pinky was throwing up a lot. I took her to the VEC (vet). The vet said she had a double the lethal dose chocolate but threw up a lot. Her heart rate was 250 normal anxious is approx 150. She is now on IV and charcoal and a having an ECG to check her heart. The vet said if everything is ok she might be able to come home later or maybe tomorrow. I will let you know. Please send good thoughts for my Pink Girl. Carol

I'm so sorry to hear this news Carol! It sounds like Pinky is getting excellent care and I hope she will be feeling much better soon. How terrifying for you to be told she ate twice the lethal amount

I'm so sorry to hear that Pinky is so sick. I've had a chocolate scare before with my last pug, Bob. But it's a good thing you have her at VEC. Please give us an update when yuou know on how she's doing and we're sending positive thoughts for her quick recovery.

Thanks for your wonderful thoughts for us. Sorry I’m a bit all over the place with this but the vet said as best as I can remember is her EKG was normal. Her electrolytes are not at normal level but not too bad. She is on charcoal, meds to stop vomiting and meds to slow her heart rate down, which is still high at 200. So they are keeping her in overnight so they can increase the meds if they have to. I think I know how she got the chocolate now. We also found a very stoned cat rolling around in a bag of catnip on the basement floor where the dogs can't go. The catnip was in the cupboard to near the top. I knew my cat wasn't crazy about Pinky but I didn't think she was that wicked. Thanks again everyone for your thoughts I will let you know. Carol
