I've lit all my candles to this dear girl.  I've lost a dog a year since 2006
Bob in October of 2006
Scout in April of 2007
Pete in January of 2008

and now Maude in March of 2009.

My heart is broken.  She lost so many years in the mill and when she was freed, she was so badly damaged.  So very badly damaged.  She deserved years and years of happiness and health and she got a measley two years.  It just wasn't enough.  It wasn't right.

I'm so angry.  Not helpful, but GOD, I'm angry.  The total waste of those years in a cage.  The complete neglect.  The utterly traumatized dog that resulted.

She was fierce and she fought back from three increasingly invasive surgeries to correct an injury--un treated at the mill that went septic inside her.  A fistulous tract for the medical folks.  And she fought through it all.  Survived.  And then got God Damned Canine Cognitive Dysfunction.  Just when she had started to relax and enjoy her life.
She was my warrior woman pug.  My alpha of the pack.

A candle is lit here for Maude so she can find her way to her wonderful family members who are waiting on the other side to help her run free forever.
