I let Maudie go to the Bridge this morning.  Her dementia had become so bad that she was always afraid.  We tried doubling her Anipryl and that brought her down from flat out panic to just constant anxiety and fear.  That isn't good enough.
So my vet and I talked this morning about our options and at noon, I held her and let her go quietly to the Bridge.
She was beautiful.  She was brave.  She was sweet.

I hope that she knows that I would have walked over hot coals barefoot if it would have helped.

She spent most of her life in puppy mill hell, but had two good years with me.

Blanche I'm so sorry. I'm sure you gave Maudie the very best loving home she could ever want for. I will light a candle for her.

maudie knows for sure that you would have done anything for her, including the difficult decision to let her go without pain and confusion.  blanche, you certainly have had your share of sadness when it comes to the seniors, but i know you'd say it pales in comparaison to the joy they give you.  hugs to you and your family and i'll light a candle tonight to help maudie find her way to the bridge.  i'm sure there will be a thousand candles to help her get there.

Maudie was a very lucky girl to have landed on your doorstep Blanche.  You went above and beyond for her in the 2 short years you had her.  A candle will be lit to guide the way.   :(

Blanche,
I'm so sorry to hear about Maude.  You gave her a great 2 years and I'm sure she knows how much she was loved.  She was very lucky to have a loving place to live out her last years.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Our thoughts are with you, Blanche. Even when it is for the best it's never an easy decision to make. Peaceful journey, Maude.

I am so sorry. She sounded like such a special girl who had been through so much. Though it wasn't for as long as it should be, she finally had the love and life she always deserved. My heart goes out to you.
