I would like to find out from our Members what you would like to see at a Pugalug Seminar?? Is there anything special you would like to see in demos on i.e. ~ allergies ~ RAW Feeding ~ nutritional facts ~ training ~ senior moments to name a few. If you would like a Demo or discussion on anything at a Seminar; let's hear from our Members Lori Site Forum Admin

While I know not everyone is into the dremel for doing pug nails - I'd love to see a demo on how to do it - there was a great weblink posted a while ago with instruction -- but to get "lessons" in person would interest me! But maybe that's just me!!
We were very sorry to miss Pugentine -- I work Sundays which makes it hard -- but we hope to be at an event soon!

If you would like a Demo or discussion on anything at the Events; let's hear from our Members Lori Site Forum Admin Having a nutrition expert come in for common allergies would be really cool. I'm quite interested in learning more about RAW feeding b/c I've heard so many negative aspects about it and I want to know "both sides of the story". A training workshop would definitely be really cool b/c there's still a lot to learn in that aspect!

The reality is that the Pugalugs are NOT the best venue for educational events. Too crowded, too noisy and the venues often have bad echoes. We certainly could do educational events, but not at the 'lugs. Our event coordinator is already really busy just keeping the Pugalugs staffed as is--I can't ask her to try and coordinate seminars on top. I can look into doing something like this a couple of times a year for interested folks--but it would be separate from the Pugalugs.

On the same page as Blanche - having separate seminars would be great - training, behavioural issues... I'd love to see something like that especially offered to the fosters. Some of us have some skills, some have moderate skills but it would be great to learn some new techniques.

I'd love to go to some seminars, particularly on allergies and training. I do agree that the Pugalugs may not be the best place for that for me. I spend most of my time trying to find Maude at the events so my focus would be poor.

I'd have to agree that a pugalug event would be a tough place for seminars, even if people could manage to stay at them long enough with everything going on and worry of chasing your pug(s) around I don't think much would be absorbed.
Maybe this is something that we could do as an online seminar? I've done a bit of this in the past, and it's usually not that difficult to do, I'd be happy to volunteer some time and equipment to make these happen. Basically we could just do a short video shoot of things and then turn them into a postable video. They don't allow for realtime questions (which is one of the downfalls of this approach), but we could solicit questions from the community on the given topic ahead of time -- which would also be very helpful with the planning of what to cover for each topic! With enough questions from users we could make sure to dover everything on the topic people need to know about!

I like Mark's idea. It's simple and assessable by many people, no matter what city they live in.

I like Mark's idea too! Online would work well for many -- and would be accessible!

Mark I've attended an online seminar that was international and ran for a week, with different experts and topics discussed, with room for questions and comments and product placement. People that came online for the event, could do so at their leisure. Leaving questions, receiving replies and reading others comments and interesting articles along the way. Quite amazing!

I've changed this to read "Seminars" as I think we are in agreement that Events are to busy for any type of discussions other than on the Pugtona of the Moment Did anyone see/hear the news report on CTV last night almost slamming RAW and/or Homemade feeding Although I can see where they were going with it; not many pet owners take the time to research what their pet needs nutritionally; I also had to look at my guys and  of course those big nasty companies that can't seem to upgrade their badly processed food into something healthy and are worried the economy will make people stop buying processed kibble; thus hitting the compnay in the profit margin......... maybe this economy stuff is a good thing; at least for the health of our little friends

Check out http://webcast.otn.ca and check the policy and requirements, perhaps the seminars may qualify, for they are "health" in nature and for the "general public?"

Good idea, but their format they use is _very_ antiquated and doesn't work on anything besides windows -- i.e. us mac users wouldn't even be able to watch them. ... and lots of what we want to get across will need fairly detailed video quality.
