This is probably going to be Pugalug's most challenging year for donations!

Winnie is still needing several ops for her hips and this is going to be the next great challenge after little Leila!

I am now, only hours into the New Year Smiley
It is the very little things that we do; that keep this organization going Smiley
We are all in this together Smiley

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct area, but I just wanted to give feedback on Valentine Avatar contest. Mark and I entered this contest just to be good community members, but Mark won second prize -- the make-up -- and I was thrilled!! There was at least $200 worth of make-up from Mac and Estee Lauder primarily and a few other goodies, and included eyeshadow (sparkly dark blue), summer bronzer, lip glosses, lip stick, wrinkle minimizer. I was blown away. This has made me prize hungry, and I will be entering all the contests. I share this to encourage others to join the contests. But I wonder if the prizes should be smaller or worth less? I am torn, because if the prizes are so good, many will join, but maybe the prizes should be spread more thinly across more contests to earn more money for the joining fees. Thoughts?

Hi Carolyn - just to clarify, the prizes are completely donated so the contest fees are pure profit. Jacqui's husband works for Mac/Estee Lauder and that is how she is able to put together such amazing prizes. I'm glad you enjoyed the prize!

If everyone coulf just forego 1 Timmy coffee and put the money into a jar for rescue it would add up...one less diner out....or as I have a yard sale..it is fun and spreads the word of Pugalug...many still do not know about rescues....money is tight for most of us but giving of our time...priceless

Very good idea Smiley

Also, there is a good thing about picking up that penny from the ground and giving it away ........ it is an old tradition of "good luck"
pick up a penny give it away and you will have good luck Smiley

Deb has started a quilt for a fundraising project for 2009!

If you have any quilting experience and/or were wanting to try your hand at a quilting...
here is your chance to help out Pugalug Pug Rescue!
Even if you are a novice or an expert quilter, Deb is only looking for one patch tob e made by each
Volunteer.
Then the patches are to be sent to Deb and she will make up the bulk of the quilt by putting all patches together, with filling and backing and finish off by quilting the piece!

The patches themselves can be of any origin
i.e.
~ quilt work
~ applique
~ embroidered
etc.
The patch design itself does not have to be geared towards "Pugs" but can be of a traditional motif
or any design the Volunteer wishes to do!

This will be a unique, one of a kind quilt to be offered up at an event! The fundraising part of it is still to be determined. I'm not sure if this will be raffle or auctioned off but it will be a unique offering!!

So come on and join up!!  Contact Deb, by PM, to let her know that you are interested in helping with this Unique Fundraising idea! Let's help raise the bar another notch for the Pugs'n'Need!!!!

Add the size of the patch in too Lori, just in case. Is it possible to bring them to a Pugalug and then someone can give them to deb, so we don't all mail tons of stuff to her?
