Quoted from the Pugalug News Letter by Larry:
"Something else came up last month that I present for you consideration.

A good Pugalug friend, died tragically in a car accident in October.

Randy Tallon and his partner Alison were the couple that drove down to Prairie Pugs Rescue in Kansas, in December, 2006  to rescue 8 pugs. You can read the story here:

I’ve included a small tribute to Randy.

http://www.pugalug.com/kansas.html

Around the same time I received a request from a Pugalugger that, in the event something should happen to him, it is stipulated in his will that his pugs will go to Pugalug Pug Rescue.

So this is a little reminder that you should make arrangements for your dogs should something unexpected happen to you. It is not an easy thing to put into a newsletter, but it is important – both to you and your little furry loved ones. It is not something that most people think about – which is why I’m putting it here. " end quote

I urge everyone to stop and reflect on what would happen to your beloved furry friends should anything happen to you!
Do a living will soon!

Lori :)

Actually, I just did a new will. In it, I included provisions for my pugs. You never know what can happen and I want to make sure that the puggies are left in the best hands, if my kids can't cope with their care and expense.
Sometimes, we just expect our family to keep the pets. It isn't always possible or the best thing. I know my parents are concerned about their cat. She is very shy and wouldn't be too happy in my busy household and with the dogs. I suggested trying to rehome her within their retirement home. Then, their kitty would have a similar environment and be good company for a senior. It would be the least traumatic for her.
They were talking about euthanizing her as being the best option. I don't agree, as she is only 9yrs. old and healthy.

Just wondering how many of us have really thought about this since it was posted??

I didn't know it 2 years ago; but I am absolutely sure that Pugsley is going to outlast me,
and I made provisions for him, Bubba and now Abigail!

It is such a very important and unselfish thing to do for the furry friends
who give us so much unconditional love every day of their lives Smiley

Be good to them, because one never knows when our lives will
change.
Since I posted this I have heard many stories about how pets have been left behind after
their Fur Pal(s) have passed away and they leave their pets to family members who are either
unprepared or unwilling, to bring a pet into the house!

We have found an awesome financial planner and part of her building a good financial plan is that her clients make Wills.  I have had a provision in my Will for some time that provides for the animals.

I deal with it a bit at my job, too.  It seems like more people are making provisions for their pets which is great.

We just revised our wills and consideration for the pugs is a large part of it!

We are in the midst of making our wills and a provision has been made for our Lola, should she outlive us.

Although it was an uncomfortable process to face, I now feel a peace of mind knowing my Lola will be well loved and cared for, until the time comes when we all reunite at the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you for this post. I have been putting off making a living will for a while now, but the reminder the my wee Lo would be stranded encourages me to do something sooner, rather than later.

Much appreciated.
