something for the top of the list!!
We need to make sure that we post a "Thank you" to all the companies/organizations that donate to our worthy cause and to also send them a follow up letter to let them know how each Event that they sponsored went / this will ensure more sponsoring down the road
**************************************************************
Flyers to hand out to Everyone who attend the Events - flyers are great in letting the public know what to expect and at what time i.e. start and finish of any auctions and raffles / door prize draws and/or games that may be played to get everyone in the spirit / times for contests i.e costumes
and also to list all the participants that have been invited to attend and who are donating their time i.e nail clipping, photography etc.
**************************************************************
NAME TAGS for ALL /even the puggers! I would have loved to have known who all the pugs were at Pugowe'en running around and having a grand time of it
Nothing nicer than greeting a royal pug with his/her name
**************************************************************Events could also sell tickets to guests for a 50/50 draw - 1 ticket 2.00, 3 tickets for 5.00 and 8 tickets for 10.00 // we do this at work for United Way and half the proceeds go to United way and half to the lucky winner of the draw // also selling tickets for door prizes // doing a "Jelly bean" jar count with perhaps different types of doggie treats filling the jar //
to name a few fund raising ideas for Events.........
**************************************************************
Nikki - lovemypug - has a lap quilt idea going for a silent auction item
- also love the idea of having Members donate their Canadian tire money which can be used to purchase harnesses, leashes, bowls etc. / a jar could be set up at the "sign in" desk for Events and if you have any money to donate it can be popped into the jar

Here's a thought.
I understand that we can sell stuff on ebay and have it directed to a charity of our choice, Pugalug Rescue of course. You also mention in the description that the proceeds will be going to rescue and makes it very positive.
**SEE ARCHIVES FOR MORE INFO ** Do we need an Ebay Coordinator??

Jacqui suggested: Everyone interested could donate an item.. my husband works for Estee Lauder, so I may donate things from there, maybe someone else bakes the best cookies they could add those, maybe you could throw in a pugalug t-shirt.. anything and everything people can think of... maybe if you have no items to donate you could just buy a $10 Starbucks card and throw it in.. ANYWAYS, after we have all the stuff we can make a list of it and sell tickets to everyone we all know and the winner gets it all!!!!!!
I realize this may end up costing each of us that are interested a bit of money, but say you were to donate the $10 gift card and then were able to sell even 10 tickets at say.. $3.00 a ticket or 2 for $5.. you just helped raise $20 at least!! **************************************************************
1pugforme added to jacqui's suggestion:
I think that is a great idea, but I'd like to add something, I've read that a lot people have posted that they have found bargains on dog items such as sweaters and coats, etc. for as little as $2.99. Why not pick an extra one up, they could be donated for silent auction or raffle, or even put together a small gift basket. Last fall I was in Winner's, and I just happened to be walking by the book section and on the end cap was the book Homer for the Holidays (Wilson the Pug) at $4.99 I snapped up all the copies, one which I donated to the club. And last month they had a journal with a black pug on it for $3.99 so I bought a few. To me these items are not expensive about the price of my favorite latte, but if they can raise some money for the club, it's worth it. Also a lot of people may not be able to donate their time to the club but by doing this you have done a little bit to the cause.

Deb - keep on pugging - has given some really great ideas some of my top picks are: contacting Build-a-bear foundation to find out if they will do a Build-a-Pug doll with donations going to Pugalug //Posted: Thu Aug 07, 2008 3:47 pm Has anyone here looked into the grant program Build-A-Bear offers for shelters and animal programs in the US and Canada? Money is directly granted on a quarterly basis. You must fill out a pet program grant application. I emailed them recently for other reasons and discovered the program still exists. I wasn't sure where else to leave this info so I posted it here. Hope it helps!!!
Build-A-Bear
www.buildabear.com email at
giving@buildabear.com or
www.buildabear.com/aboutus/community/gr ... ault.aspx- QSP mags could be looked into too, Boxer Rescue of Ontario is doing it
www.boxerrescueontario.com The local school does it every year here, so that's why I am familiar with it, they make a lot from it. / pewter lapel pins
similar to the boston rescue sites pins / address labels > Here's a canadian place to get address labels done in Brampton 500 labes for $9.95 maybe a better deal if it's for a charity?
www.addresslabels-canada.com/C155. and notepads and much more......

Larry was advising last year that Pugalug is out of "Wrist bands" at $5.00 each with "Helping Pugs in need" written onit or any logo we can come up with/ I still like this idea
**************************************************************
Also there was a suggestion for leashes printed with a logo for Pugalug on them
Posted by pugpillow aka Hilary on: Mon Aug 20, 2007 8:20 am
My friend Janet dropped in yesterday with her dog sporting a Breast Cancer leash (pink ribbon logos all over it). I thought this might be a great idea for us. We could put either the picture in our logo or the web address or both on the leash.

this is another thing that's super easy to get made... you can get pretty much anything you can imagine branded these days. in my job i work with a lot of this type of stuff and can usually get really good rates
**************************************************************
Bumper stickers...fridge magnets...photo frames... note pads.
How about small fanny packs with the logo?
**************************************************************
ruby suggested: nalgene water bottles with the pugalug logo
**************************************************************license plate frame ??
Postedby AlyssaMarie on: Fri Oct 17, 2008 4:02 pm
Yes!! we talked about this awhile ago and one of my suppliers is happy to do them for a discounted rate for the rescue as she is also a dog lover
I'm more than happy to source/design these
**************************************************************
Let's make July - Pugalug Quarter month?
I had a thought and hope others will think it's a good idea.
How about we make July a Pugalug Quarter Month! What we would do is each time we get change from purchasing something if there are any quarters we will set them aside and save them. At the end of the month we tally our quarters, wrap them and take them to the bank. All the money we saved will be given to Pualgug rescue.
So who is with me on this?
Pug hugs,
Denise
**Hi Denise: have not forgotten this great idea** Lori

Penny Jar at Events,
there was a suggestion for pennies too,
we could set up a penny jar (if we have a huge jar) and people could toss
in their pennies......... I've got lots to toss in for the first donation
**************************************************************
Deb mentioned this as well:
Animal Wellness Magazine offers a 3 year rate too and a cd-rom with past magazines and articles on it. Animal Wellness can be a fundraiser too and offers a fundraising package. / cheques -
www.bradforddogchecks.com or 18003238104

Tanya mentioned she does jewelry and photos!! I love both ideas!
(pics can be seen under Fundraising topic -Raffle committee for Pugoween started by Larry on Aug16/2008
As for raffle items, what would you guys think of a handmade earring-and-bracelet set valued at about $30/And since someone mentioned it before, if you think anyone would want a free pet photography session? I am not a professional by any means, but if you guys think anyone would want this, I could do up some comp cards to give out or have on display at the event, with a few of my favorite shots on them, and provide the raffle winner with a session, a framed 8 x 10, or a cd of, say, 20 high-res images from the session?
**************************************************************
Kent suggested: It would cost more than $10 but i think pugalug club embroidered puppia harnesses might be nice. Pugalug mugs would be an easy sell. Maybe pugalug dog tags with member since , dogs name etc on it. It could be an add on to membership signups.Pugalug club stamped stainless food and water dishes?
I've seen some websites use Cafepress stuff to instant make their logo available on everything, i don't know how well it works from Canada but that might be an interesting avenue.
I think to go along with the calender some Pugalug club Xmas/holiday cards might be popular, people who know you're in the club will be disappointed you didn't send them something fanatical for Xmas!
**************************************************************
Larry wrote: What about pewter dog tags? I can get a deal on them. They would have the logo on them but not personal engraving. You would have to get that done yourself (unless we found a volunteer who could do it)
**************************************************************pugcrazy suggested: What about Pugalug dog bandanas? Vegas always gets so much attention, Pugalug would get attention along with him!
**************************************************************
pugwinkle suggested: What about Pugalug Rescue Pens?

I am always in need of pens and it would be great to be able to send some to my pug friends in the States.
**************************************************************
Louise and Porky suggested: I can have Pugalug Stickers made with our logo and web site made. They are plastic, peel and stick vinyl and weather proof, ideal for vehicles or flat surfaces. Black and white would work well. Let me know how many and I can get a quote and provide a proof for approval.

I was thinking that maybe we could do something like that christmas card that Oprah got.
Offer a card to be mailed out to whom ever the buyer wishes with a picture and story of a pug they have helped to rescue through the donation made in their name. Who wouldn't like a card with a pug on it?

Why not sell pug Xmas cards in general and ask permisssion to use photos of some of the members sweeties? I'd still like to see the ususal stuff, like everyone mails me, but from Pugalug. Notepads, address labels, pens, etc. A lot of organizations have cheques and even credit cards bearing their logo

I always send out my original pug Christmas cards every year, as well as personalized gift tags (usually with Hanks head on them). They are always a big hit.
I be happy to help with that too.

I investigated that last year but could only find US organizations doing it. The Canadian companies I contacted didn't provide that service.

Everyone else is doing it and I'd rather pay the dollars to Pugalug and have pug bearing merchandise. The Pugalug labels that are now placed on mail outgoing from Pugalug would be a great starting point. The notepads could even have a pug faded into the background of the paper itself. Neat! Or for costs just the logo and slogan at the top of the pages. As for the cheque and credit card idea, I noticed that many Canadian organizations have them now, like, Children's Miracle Network, Humane Society and more. Even some of the Ontario colleges and universities offer credit cards bearing their emblems. Maybe they go through some other route? Don't know?

With 'Pugalug' on of course!

Has anyone ever heard of or considered "Shop and Support"? It is an easy way to raise funds. Members/non-members can log onto an internet site where they can purchase gift cards (Wal-Mart, Costco, Home Depot, Petro Can, etc.) the gift cards can be sent directly to your home with a % being donated to the organization. It does not cost the members anything extra. You just buy your cards for regular purchases such as groceries and gas and earn money!! How easy is that.
I participate in this for my chid's sports team and it is fabulous. For example if you can get 25 members to purchase grocery cards at $125/week you can earn over $9000 in a year.
If he or any member of the Board would like to proceed it is just a matter of filling out the application and letting the PUGALUG members know when they can start shopping.
Of course it would require registering Pugalug with the organization (no cost to join) The website is

What about just selling the pugalug transfers so people could put them on their own shirt. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about sizes available. As a big girl I don’t like the current shirts they are too clingy. I would make myself a bright pink pugalug shirt with my transfer. Sell just the transfer you could pugalug everything!!! Carol
Posted by1pugforme on : Sat Apr 26, 2008 11:13 am
Sounds great Carol, with transfers would could put them on anything you want. I see throws, pillows, backpacks, nightshirts it's endless.

I've got one more idea to offer in way of books. Why not publish a Pugalug Club Coffee Table Book filled with pug rescue photos taken throughout the years! This special edition would serve as a commemorative piece and showcase all those past rescues, besides, with all the coffee table books out there I would rather have one with pugs to place beside my coffee mug, wouldn't you? A hardcover would suite this style of book best I think, no paperbacks here!!! I realize hardcover costs more, but I thought it was a neat idea to suggest.
Keep on pugging and reading and writing books!
Posted by pugpillow on: Mon Jan 28, 2008 8:47 pm
This is also very similar to an idea I have been working on for a while.

2 books were also suggested by Deb: A Coffee Table Book with all past and present pictures of Rescue/surrenders that have come through Pugalug's doors / and a Pugalug Care Manual / Hilary expressed interest in this as well

Pugapalooza had sticker for sale that they sold out of even after the event.
They were really cute, they said "IF IT"S NOT A PUG IT"S JUST A DOG"
They sold for $2. Just thought I'd throw a suggestion at you. Maybe have the Pugalug Logo with the
www.pugalug.com on it. I'd for sure put one on my truck and advertise! The stickers were a great hit. I can email one to you if you'd like to see what it looks like.
