Hey all,

Looks like we're going to have a lap quilt to use to raise $$$ with (in the spring of 09)   :D   My Mom has agreed to donate her time & expertise, & I'll supply the material.

The design is still rolling around in our brains, but it will be a Pug theme.  The finished size will be around 60x60 inches.

I have a request to anyone out there who frequents fabric/craft store, and has a flair for design.  I want/need to find fabric that has Pugs on it.  Also, some that has small paw prints.  Don't mean to be too picky, but only 100% Cotton will do.

Not sure if this can happen or not, but it would be really neat if we could make some Pug Paw Print fabric ourselves.  If there is such a thing as a safe fabric paint/dye that we can get our Pugs to walk in, then walk on the fabric.  If it is doable, I'd like to see it done with some rescue Pugs.  This could be used for the quilt back and also for the outside border.  Kinda to tie in the love & safety we want for all Pugs.

My Mom lives in PEI, & I'm going out to see here in mid December, so I'm hoping to have the fabric together by then.

I live is a small town, north of most of you, & so far haven't found any pug fabric here, so I really need your help if possible.  I'll be in southern Ont. Nov. 7th - 10th (if all works out as planned) so if anyone can direct me to where to look, it would be greatly appreciated.  Here's where I'll likely be going to & through.  Orillia, Barie, Orangeville, Guelph, Hamilton, KW, Toronto, & Peterborough. (& points between too)

So bring on the ideas & suggestions.

Ooooh. That sounds like fun!!

I know that there is a Len's Mill here in Kitchener that has a ridiculous amount of fabric in it. There's also one in Cambridge, but I've never been to that one.

There is ink that you can use to make hand and finger prints for babies that is non-toxic.....Toys R Us should have it.......it is easily washed off with water.  That would probably work for the puggie paw prints.

That's a great idea Lori!   We're trying to track down the non toxic ink to do the paw prints.....I had a kit when my daughter was a baby and personalized the Christmas cards for her first Christmas with her foot prints......not having any luck though...anyone have any ideas??

Well,
I haven't done that sort of stuff for years but any non-toxic acrylic paint should do. There could be a bucket of water right at the booth and paws could be washed tootsuite Wink

I know mom did up a cute thing with all the puggie prints for me one Christmas and i'm sure she used the non-toxic acrylic stuff. None of my guys became ill over that adventure Wink

We also have to make sure whatever paint we use won't wash off, something that can be set with heat

That should not be a problem for either Smiley

If you and your Mom, figure out the size of quilt you want to make and the size of pieces for the paw prints; I will see what I can do for fabric and paint. Or maybe contact Sigrid and find out how many of the Events she is planning on being at and if she can get others to help out with trucking the squares around?!?!  Sigrid is the Events Coordinator and should be able to give a clear indication of how this could work!

I think this is an absolutely awesome thing you and your mom have come up with and I will help as much as possible!

I used to work at Fabricland and maybe I can wangle a deal with my friend who manages one here in London. I will have to let you know on that.

Lori :)
