Bad gas is pretty common in a food switch and it can take weeks for their systems to adjust. It may be that the formula is too rich--so you might want to scale it down to something easy to digest. I find Canidae works well for gassy dogs--And stay away from foods with grains--especially corn, wheat and soy.
Some dogs just ARE gassy. Bob could kill with his. And certain proteins sources make it worse. Bob is lethal if he eats duck or venison. Small portions might help as well. My guys get between 1/4 and 1/3 of a cup twice a day. This still allows for lots of treats in between.
Canned pure pumpkin can help as well rather than wet food.
I just use canned pure pumpkin. If you want to make your own, you could. Just make sure you use pure pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling.....

hey guys, i am slowly transitioning douglas to solid gold, barking at the moon, which was highly recommended because of it's non-grain formula. douglas' ears are always slightly stinky, even when clean and i figured i would try it out to see if it is an allergy thing.

anyways, my questions is: for those of you who have their pugs on this food, do they have the worst smelling gas in the world from it? i mean, stink-o-rama, clear the room kind of tooting! i am assuming that there will be some gastro stuff just due to the change in his diet but i am wondering if it will be permanent. i would love him anyways, but if it's permanent then we have to buy gas-masks. jeez - between the warts and his toots, i can't believe i still let him sleep with me at night!

I've always fed Solid Gold of some type. I've found that with fosters yes some get gas but it does disappear. It has a lot to do with the cleansing of toxins from their system. I love the Barking at the Moon, it has a slightly higher protein but I feed one meal kibble one meal raw so I'm 100% confident they're getting the proper vitamins needed from it.
Now the raw, Wesley gets awful gas from any beef. Honestly I've gone around looking for a pile of poop it's that bad. Needless to say he no longer gets it.
