http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pa ... lert082506 Got this ASPCA link from another list. Apparently xylitol, a sweetener found in some candy, gum, etc. is toxic to dogs and the reaction can be sudden and serious.
On the same thread, there was a post about how the sweetener aspartame turns into formaldehyde in the body and should be avoided by canines and humans.
