After discovering that my caving to giving Amir peanut butter on a regular basis, I've made his itchies worse.  Lori was kind enough to give me some grand tips to help with this (thanks again!).  One thing I decided was to get Mr Man on the Natural Balance Venison and Sweet Potato kibble and soft.

This was my idea at least.  I go various stores and for the life of me, I can't find anything to do with fig other than cookies.  Fine I figure.  I'll drop by Bulk Barn sometime.  I gather my own groceries and head over to Global.  As the lady is ringing in my purchase of a 15 pound bag of food and some cans, she asks if anyone talked to me about Natural Balance yet.  I said no.  She proceeded to inform me that they'll no longer be carrying it as they've had problems with their distributor.  Le sigh.  Now I'm not sure what to get him next >.<

Did you price out the difference between Before B4 Grains and Orijen to
the Natural Balance Huh?

Sometimes the difference is pennies.

The dried figs I found, were at either WalMart Groceries or Food Basics.
They come in the little plastic round container and should last you several weeks. I know at WalMart they were 1.47 and I did not price them at Food Basics, just saw them sitting in the shipping box getting ready to be displayed.
I'm sure A&P would have them if Food Basics does.

I didn't see either brand there.  Then again, they have several.  Natural Balance was $39 for the bag I got.  I'll go in when this one gets about halfway through and see what else they have.  The lady mentioned another venison kind but I forget the brand.

I checked Wal-Mart and Sobeys but no avail.  Raisins, cranberries and everything in between but no figs.  Boo!  Charlottetown lacks a true grocery dept in Wally and we don't have a Food Basics or A&P.  Hrm, wonder if Coop Basics is the same or at least similar.  The yogurt is a huge hit, heh.  Meanwhile, I eat a bag of chips, onion dip and pumpkin pie for supper.  Wonder who the healthy eater in this house is, hehe.

Btw, Lori, love the avi! ^^

I was wondering what is with the figs?  Are they particularly good for the pugs?  Is it common for pugs to be sensitive to peanut butter?  I give it to Rocky once in a while in his Kong........

I'm not sure about pugs in general when it comes to the ol' pb.  It never bothered my old fella.  Amir, however, is a tad defective and has some form of a food allergy.  The peanut butter seemed to make it worse.  He was scratching at his belly (like the "ticklish spot") and chewing on his back feet.  It seemed to happen around the same time as he started getting pb bones regularly which resulted in my sudden change in food and such.

Jemma;

is the price difference that great from ontario to where you live??

 :shock:

$39.00 for 15 lbs = 6.8K

no wonder you are broke Sad
I would be freezing half of that in a really good freezer bag. I know with my guys, if they smell a hint of freezer smell to their kibble ....... they ain't touchin' it with a 100' pole Smiley
Although I believe it may not be good for certain ailments that a pet may have; I know Blanche commented on that once before (ahem if my memory serves me well)

So Jemma;
eat lots of pumpkin and figs, they are cheap and very good for you :)

heh, the pumpkin itself may be good, but perhaps not when it's hidden under cool whip, lol!

Perhaps I'm a bit naive but I thought that Global would have standardized prices everywhere.  Kinda like other national stores like Shoppers or Future Shop.  The 5 pound bag of the same food was $15.  Kicker is, Natural Balance seemed one of the cheaper brands there.  I'm going to have to take a good look at everything next time I'm in.

I may eat some pumpkin, but the puglet can keep the figs, lol!
