Larry, I am sorry you have been put in the position of having to make such a tough decision. You and Barnaby will be in my thoughts this evening.

I have been having a rough day today thinking about Barnaby I am crying as I write this its so sad that he was so healthy but had issues that we could not deal with its unfortunate I know deep in my heart that this was the right decision yet it hurts so much. I am sorry Larry you must be feeling so much pain. I keep looking at his photo and all I am able to see is a gorgeous pug. I kept looking at my watch all day as the time approached I felt a sharp pain inside my chest and its still there. I am sorry Barnaby.

Hello Everyone and thanks for your comforting thoughts. I read them alll to Barn before we left.
He was very quiet and subdued in the waiting area. Barnaby sat on the couch next to me. We practiced shake paw as we waited. Barnaby would do the right paw first and then he would do the left paw.
They took him to put the catheter into his paw. He had to be given a sedative because he wasn't quite sure what was happening. Finally he was obeying Dr. McMullen because he is (was) a good boy.
He was on my lap, wrapped in blankets when the time came. He lifted his head and licked my face as I held him. I held him close. She took his heartbeat and said "He is gone". I could not let him go at first. I kissed his forehead and told him one more time that he was a good boy.
Thanks to everyone for you kind thougts. They helped me and Barnaby through a very difficult time. You have provided a very frail human being with the strength to do something that is very, very difficult.
Good by Barnaby, I will see you again, I promise.
Larry

Though I never had the chance to meet him, I wish him happiness. And Larry, I have never had the chance to meet you either, I would like like to thank you for everything you do and everything you did for Barnaby.
I would really like to add more here, but can't come up with the right words that would even make sense...

Larry, reading your post brought me to tears! How hard it must have been for you. I know we talked about Barnaby at the RWF one night, I know there was the possiblity of this day to come. I feel so bad for you and Barnaby. At least you were with him. He felt love until the end. That's so important. You were probably the only good thing in his life. Bless you for that!

I know his previous adopters loved him dearly. He had a wonderful summer because of them. They were sad because of the circumstances but loved him all the same. We don't know how things have been in a pug's past life. We just try to do the best we can while they are with us. I miss him already but the rescue group must go on. There will be other pugs in the comng years that will sleep in Barnaby's spot. They will go on to live healthy and loving lives. Barnaby would appreciate that.

Many tears have been shed for Barnaby, and for you, Larry. He will never be forgotten, nor will your patience and kindness. I wish you strength.

Dear Larry,
I'm just getting caught up on this and sorry I couldn't offer you words of strength earlier. You are so brave and so kind with everything you have done for Barnaby and made the right and only decision for him. My heart goes out to you and lots of love from this pug household.
Take Care,
Deb

Larry, Tears are in my eyes as I type this. It takes a strong and noble soul to show the kind of love that you did. My heart goes out to you and kisses to Barnaby as he makes his way to the bridge. Steve, Max & Lynn

Larry Not all broken places can be mended in the ways we like....Barnaby was soothed with the warmth of the tenderhearts that make up Pugalug Rescue.....he knew love...your strenght made the journey to freedom a moment we all are shedding a tear over...Bless you for loving the Pugs enough to always do the right things for them.....A Candle will remain lit today for both of you....

I've not been checking out the site lately and I don't know what exactly happened only knew that Barn has been returned. So when I ready about this today I'm shock and sad to know about this. Since I know Larry has been so loving and caring for Barn that there must be a good reason for doing so and I know it must be a very difficult decision for you Larry. Take care Larry.
