Dagmar Skala who was the original Pug Rescuer here--founder of PeachyPugs from which came many of our own pugs--has had to put her beautiful male, Pogo to sleep after a long battle with PLE. He was only 6 or 7. She is heart broken.
So spare a thought for Dagmar and her loss, if you would. Many of us got our start in pug rescue because of her.

That is very sad. Dagmar rescued my Mookie and she was the reason I decided to start fostering for PeachyPugs Rescue. She has saved many, many animals. A candle is lit for Pogo.

My heart breaks for Dagmar. She has taught me so much and was right beside me when Ringo was so sick. Never did she think twice about driving to my house to come with me on vet visits. Thanks to her I have my Ringo and Wesley and my sons girlfriend got little pug mix Rocky. Some of us have had Peachy Pugs come and go as fosters and some stayed put.
We will light a candle for Pogo and keep Dagmar in our thoughts.

I'm so sorry to hear about her loss While I have not met her I have heard so many stories about her love of animals, she truly sounds like an amazing woman.

Dagmar was also my inspiration and introduction to pug rescue and my heart is very heavy for her. Through her, not only did I get my first rescue Denver, but I learned about raw feeding and grain allergies. She literally saved the life of my Kim-Soo by educating me on canine nutrition. Then she was so very supportive when my Daisy-Bo had to undertake elongated soft palate surgery and even spoke to our mutual vet about her beforehand. She cares so much about our precious pugs (as well as rotties) that she must take this loss particularly hard. There is not a day goes by I am not grateful for her intervention in my life and I am sorry she has to go through this heartache.

Dagmar is an angel to pugs and all animals. On many occasions I have sought out her advice and she is always right and never judgemental. We all love our pugs to bits and no one could love them like Dagmar. Pogo was a beautiful dog and my heart goes out to Dagmar and her family.
