Never thought there'd come a day that I'd be asking about Amir's pee-er, but here I go.

A couple of nights ago, Mr. Man rolled over to get a belly rub.  In doing so, I noticed his lower region had some dark crusting on the fur at the tip.  After a surely traumatic couple of moments for Amir, I cleaned/cut the affected fur.  It appears that he had some discharge that got gunked up from laying on his blankets, bed and/or floor.  After Googling, I see a pale discharge is normal in male dogs.  It seems strange to me for some reason.  Twelve years old and now he gets it despite being fixed.

He's acting perfectly norm (eating, drinking, piddle and poo). The only thing thst he seems bothered with is the little bit of discharge he leaves on his bed, etc.  He's never been one to clean himself as I don't think he can physically do it.  I notice no redness, etc.  I'm going to take him in to get it checked this week.  Curious if anyone else has experienced such a thing.  Boys are weird.

I haven't noticed anything like this with Chewy, though he is a few years younger than Amir. I adopted a pug/keeshond mix when he was 10 years old and Huxley ALWAYS had a bit of discharge in that region. It never seemed to bother him. I should mention that he was not fixed though...

Beau (fixed) has the same thing.  He gets a quick wipe with a wet wash cloth.

My assumption has always been that he can't reach his, um, areas.

Doesn't bother him, doesn't seem infected or itchy.

Spoke to Amir's vet today and she said since the discharge had stopped, his boy parts aren't red or inflamed and all systems are normal that I shouldn't worry.  Token keep an eye on it.  Clearly his mother is a worrier, heh.  I still say boys are weird, heh

If it's a green discharge, it could suggest there's an infection.  Test the urine with a pH strip to rule it out.  The pH should be between 5.5 and 7.2.

Nah, was just pale.  If it were green, Mr. Man would've been carted off as soon as I noticed it.  Thankfully, it turns out it was nothing to worry about.  It was suggested that salt or dirt on snow may have irritated him.  This makes sense.  All things returned to normal within a couple of days.

Everything was back to normal when we went to the College today.  Since this is the second time it's happened in two months, a couple of urine samples were collected (cysto and free cast) in case it's a urinary tract infection.  Should have results on Monday.  Apparently Mr. Man has amazing bladder control as he took forever to piddle after the cysto.  I was also sent home with Baxedin and ordered to flush his *ahem* area out with it.  Oh boys, this is going to be a chore!
